Battle of the Books

A note from Mrs. Lowery – the Lincoln Librarian:

I am excited to announce our second annual Battle of the Books or “BOB” competition. This exciting literacy activity is offered by the librarians of our school district at the elementary level. The students will experience different genres and authors as well as provide an opportunity for them to read 25 pre- selected books as they prepare to compete ‘Family Feud’ style with other classmates at the Lincoln BOB Competition, as well as a district competition against Garfield, Ewalt and Robinson in the spring. Battle of the Books is an activity that challenges children in all areas of literacy. The children need the support and encouragement of their families to ensure success. We are looking forward to this fun and challenging reading activity.

This activity is open to all third, fourth and fifth graders who enjoy literature and are willing to read and prepare for the Battle by reading at least 6-7 of the 25 books from this year’s Battle list. We will have a building competition in March (date tbd).  Our top two teams will then represent Lincoln in the district competition on Friday, April 13th, 2018 (tentative date), location to be announced.
